Establish a new 2nd Line Team
My client is building a high-calibre 2nd Line Desktop Support team as a key part of establishing excellent IT service & support levels to a rapidly-growing user base. Experience of 2nd Line support on the following products is essential:
Windows 2000, Windows XP Exchange 5.5, Exchange 2003 MS Office 2003 Active Directory IBM Desktops/Laptops, IBM Printers, HP Printers
Exposure to providing 2nd Line Support for any of the following would be ideal: IBM iSeries, Sharepoint, VM Ware, Veritas Backup Exec V10d and Mitel 3300 series telephone switches
At least 18 months’ experience of 2nd Line Support is particularly important as part of your role will to guide a new 1st Line team. You will take responsibility for solving the more technical issues across a large and varied user community. A background of working in a multi-site organisation would be ideal and exposure to any aspect of mobile computing (PDA, Blackberry, Laptop etc) would be a distinct advantage.

Job Title | Windows XP Desktop Support Engineer (1st and 2nd Line) Salary | To £22,004 Location | Wolverhampton
This is a 1st and 2nd Line support role for a Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 and XP environment. Min 2 years’ desktop support experience for XP, MS Exchange, MS Outlook and MS Office is essential. Exposure to SQL Server, VMWare and laptop/mobile computing would be ideal. In addition to taking support calls, you will be encouraged to go deskside across the user community to resolve problems and issues. You will join a growing IT Service Desk team supporting a large user base across a number of remote sites. Experience of multi-site support would be a distinct advantage.

Min 2 years’ support experience on Windows (Windows 2000, 2003, XP, MS Office, MS Exchange, Outlook, SQL Server) is essential. You must have 1st line support experience from a Service Desk or Help Desk environment but you should also have exposure to deskside support, specifically on XP workstations. The role combines both 1st and 2nd line with equal elements of each in an IT environment consisting of several hundred users across different UK sites and a significant number of mobile users. Strong verbal and written communication skills will be required as well as the ability to liaise with users across all levels of the business.

Experience of 2nd line support is particularly important as part of your role will to assist a new 1st line team.
You will assist on the Help Desk and also take responsibility for solving the more technical issues across a large and varied user base. A background of working in a multi-site organisation would be ideal.
